After exploding onto the scene¬†with super low-budget zombie movie Colin in 2008, talented British filmmaker Marc Price has been busy making movies, as well as mentoring a legion of young talent through his partnership with the BFI. As his stunning second feature Magpie – a moving drama about a grief-stricken young father who steals the coffin from his son’s funeral – makes its debut on Amazon Prime, I spoke to Marc about¬†the challenges of making independent film.

Survival of the Dead (DVD)

Dead reckoning

Over 40 years after the release of his seminal Night of the Living Dead, George A Romero’s zombie franchise lumbers on. And while his latest offering may lack the social and political commentary that defined his earlier movies, this tale of the inhabitants of an isolated island and their fight against the living dead packs in plenty of Romero’s trademark dry humour and outlandish effects. Gorehounds in particular will delights in the many sticky closeups.
